What is Here Is How?
Here Is How transforms All Trades Road into a dynamic street festival
centered on mutual care, creative solidarity, and neighborhood celebration.
The block comes alive with local food, live performances, community forums,
quiet learning spaces, and hands-on workshops hosted across partner venues.
As attendees explore, they collect unique "How-To" pages from participating
groups and bring them to a central bookbinding station to craft a free,
personalized handbook of local skills and resources. The event seamlessly
connects daytime skill-sharing with evening celebration, culminating in a
community dance party at RELAY.
Why Here Is How is Different
Universal Access in the Neighborhood Hub
While Santa Fe’s traditional events often cater to tourists with high entry
costs in downtown venues, Here Is How offers a 100% free alternative rooted
on All Trades Road in the working-class Siler Arts District. By completely
eliminating ticket prices and vendor booth fees, the festival removes
financial barriers for neighbors to attend and local groups to participate.
Active Engagement Over Passive Consumption
Rather than treating attendees as passive consumers, the festival transforms
visitors into active co-creators through street-level skill-sharing and
collective care. In lieu of traditional booth fees, participating groups
contribute practical "How-To" guides showcasing their unique expertise. As
visitors explore workshops and interactive tables, they collect these pages
and hand-bind them at a central station, converting event participation into
a custom reference manual.
Generative Impact Beyond a Single Day
While standard festivals fade as soon as the tents come down, Here Is How
creates lasting community infrastructure. Attendees return home with a
permanent, customized handbook of vital health, legal, and creative
resources. Simultaneously, bringing non-profits, small businesses, and makers
together side-by-side sparks ongoing cross-sector collaborations, turning
isolated local efforts into an enduring network of mutual support.

You proved early on just how transformative street-level resource sharing really is.
